🔧 Troubleshooting

The system is running slowly – how can I improve performance?

Summary

Troubleshooting guide for performance issues including slow loading times, lag, and system responsiveness.

Improving System Performance

If Care Pathway Pro is running slowly, there are several steps you can take to improve performance.

Quick Fixes (Try These First)

1. Hard Refresh the Page

  • Windows: Press Ctrl + F5
  • Mac: Press Cmd + Shift + R
  • This forces the browser to reload everything from scratch

2. Close Unnecessary Browser Tabs

Each open tab uses memory and processing power. Close any tabs you’re not actively using. Aim to have no more than 5-10 tabs open at once.

3. Check Your Internet Connection

Run a speed test at speedtest.net. Minimum recommended speeds: Download 10 Mbps or higher, Upload 2 Mbps or higher, Ping under 50ms. If speeds are lower, contact your IT support or internet provider.

4. Restart Your Browser

Close all browser windows completely, wait 10 seconds, reopen the browser, and log back into Care Pathway Pro.

Browser Maintenance

Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

Google Chrome: Click the three-dot menu → More Tools → Clear Browsing Data → Select “All time” → Check cookies and cache → Click “Clear data”.

Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Choose what to clear → Select “All time” and cookies/cache.

Safari (Mac): Go to Safari menu → Preferences → Privacy tab → Manage Website Data → Remove All.

Disable Unnecessary Browser Extensions

Browser extensions can slow down performance significantly. In Chrome, go to More Tools → Extensions. Disable or remove extensions you don’t need. Keep only essential extensions enabled.

Device Optimisation

Check Available Memory (RAM)

Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. If memory usage is above 90%, close other applications.

Mac: Open Activity Monitor (Applications → Utilities). If “Memory Pressure” is yellow or red, close other applications.

Restart Your Computer

A simple restart can resolve many performance issues. Save all work before restarting. Restart at least once per week for optimal performance.

Network Issues

Switch from Wi-Fi to Ethernet

Wired connections are more stable and faster. If possible, connect your device directly to the router with an ethernet cable.

Move Closer to the Wi-Fi Router

Weak Wi-Fi signals cause slowdowns. Walls, doors, and distance reduce signal strength. Move to a location with better signal or ask IT to install additional access points.

Update Your Browser

Outdated browsers run slower and may have compatibility issues. Check for updates in your browser settings and install any available updates.
